Welcome is The Red Thread!

This newsletter is my way of staying connected with friends, colleagues, and fellow Ontarians by sharing updates from my work as Executive Vice President of the Ontario Liberal Party and Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Rainbow District School Board. Along the way, I will offer reflections, insights, and candid observations on the challenges and opportunities facing our province. Most importantly, The Red Thread will explore the ideas, leadership, and organization needed for the Ontario Liberal Party to earn the trust of voters and form government once again.

Why The Red Thread/Red Ribbon???

The name The Red Thread comes from an ancient East Asian legend about the Red Thread of Fate—an invisible cord said to connect people whose lives are destined to intersect.

According to the legend, the thread may stretch, twist, or become tangled over time, but it can never be broken. No matter the distance or circumstance, it continues to draw people toward meaningful connection, shared purpose, and collective action.

This symbolism resonates deeply with the message of the Red Ribbon Campaign. The red ribbon represents love, respect, protection, and a commitment to ending violence against Indigenous Women and Girls. It serves as a visible reminder that we are all connected through our responsibilities to one another and to our communities.

For me, The Red Thread represents those unseen bonds that bring people together—through relationships, opportunities, ideas, and experiences. Like the red ribbon, it reminds us that our actions are connected, that our voices are stronger when united, and that meaningful change happens when people come together in support of a common purpose.

Whether through friendship, advocacy, community, or reconciliation, the red thread symbolizes our shared journey and our commitment to walking that path together.

Trustee Corner

Over the past four years, I have been privileged to serve the students, staff, parents, and communities of Rainbow Schools, including three years as Chair of the Board. Throughout my term, I have worked to support student achievement, strengthen public education, and ensure that the voices of our communities are heard.

I am honoured to have been acclaimed as the trustee for Area 5 for another four-year term. I am grateful for the confidence placed in me and look forward to continuing to serve our community, advocating for the success, well-being, and achievement of every student across Rainbow Schools.

At the Education Matters Summit in Parry Sound on July 26, 2026, keynote speaker The Honourable Gerard Kennedy delivered a thought-provoking message on the future of public education. He emphasized that “people need to care before they think,” highlighting the importance of building relationships and trust before seeking solutions. Kennedy described educators, parents, and community leaders as the true guardians of education, entrusted with protecting and strengthening learning opportunities for future generations. He cautioned that seeking common ground with those committed to undermining public education can be unproductive, and instead encouraged a focus on community-based guardianship, local engagement, and collective action.
